Bicycle fair, musical or visiting a gallery – find your April highlight here!

Sporty April

Ready, set, go! At exactly 10.05 a.m. on 8 April, Berlin’s Half Marathon will start at Karl-Marx-Allee. The 21.0975 kilometer long course takes runners along Unter den Linden and Straße des 17. Juni, past Charlottenburg Palace and along Kurfurstendamm back to the start and finish line. Be sure to cheer for the more than 34,000 runners!

It’s matchday again for Hertha BSC. The team of trainer Pál Dárdai will play against 1. FC Köln on 14 April and FC Augsburg on 28 April. The end of the season is near, every point counts!

You need a few things to revamp your bike before the new cycling season starts for real? The VELOBerlin at the former Tempelhof airport offers anything your bicycle – and you – need. 300 exhibitors, information on e-bikes, tips regarding healthy cycling and much more are waiting to be discovered. The two-day festival on 14 and 15 April also includes a testing course for new bikes, races and shows on an outdoor area.

Bloomy April

Everybody is longing for spring. Is there anything more beautiful than delicate cherry blossoms? The Kirschblütenfest at Gardens of the World takes place on 15 April. The traditional Hanami marks the start of the new garden and outdoor season. You will see numerous cosplayers in Japanese costumes as well as dances and cultural performances from Korea, Japan and China.

Another tip: Take a walk along Mauerweg at Bornholmer Straße along the course of the Berlin Wall: Here you will find many Japanese cherry trees in full bloom.

Musical April

It is the tenth anniversay of Austrian singer Falco’s death in 2018. On this occasion, the musical Falco is back on tour, stopping at Berlin’s Theater am Potsdamer Platz from 11 to 15 April. Fans can look forward to two hours full of Falco’s life and oeuvre, including the hits ‘Jeanny’, ‘Out of the Dark’, and ‘Rock Me Amadeus’.

Thirty years ago, David Hasselhoff celebrated his biggest musical success with the song ‘Looking for Freedom’. Now, he is coming to Germany for his world tour, playing at Friedrichstadt-Palast on 11 and 30 April. And: He is bringing along K.I.T.T., his motorized side kick from Knight Rider.

Diva Tomasz

Wintergarten Berlin stages colorful varieties: On 16 April, Diva Tomasz and friends enter the stage with the program Diva’s Delight. Take It Easy!, a tour through the best rock and pop songs with artists and magicians can be seen until 10 June.

Artistic April

47 galleries take part in Gallery Weekend Berlin from 27 to 29 April, taking visitors on a tour through contemporary art. A true gallery hotspot can be found in Potsdamer Strasse where Blain|Southern, Galerie Guido W. Baudach, Galeria Plan B and Esther Schipper open their door for you.
