…music lovers:

Fans of the Kelly Family can go on a journey through time back to the 1990s and sing along the songs of the musical family at Mercedes-Benz Arena on 2 March. Those who prefer rock music from Finland should not miss Sunrise Avenue on 12 March.

At MaerzMusik – Festival für Zeitfragen, current music will be put in relation to time. About 30 events will take place on ten days from 16 to 25 March – from performances and concerts to installations. All works and projects focus on music and time, some subtly, some directly. Event locations include Martin-Gropius-Bau, Haus der Berliner Festspiele and the Berlin Philharmonic.

Classic music can be heard at Staatsoper’s Festtage 2018 from 24 March to 2 April. Daniel Barenboim will conduct the Vienna Philharmonic and the Staatskapelle Berlin; in addition, the operas Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi and Parsifal by Richard Wagner will be put on stage. For the first time in years, the Festtage will take place at the lovingly restored Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

…sports fanatics:

Germany’s national football team will play a friendly match against Brazil at Olympiastadion Berlin on 27 March. The last match was the half-final at the World Cup 2014 which Germany won with an overwhelming 7-1.

Hertha BSC will play against SC Freiburg (10 March) and VfL Wolfsburg (on the Easter weekend) at Olympiastadion.


Those who are still looking for some inspiration for this year’s holidays are sure to find some at ITB Berlin. Hundreds of destinations from more than 180 countries present their highlights and impress the crowds. How about a short trip to Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, a safari in Botswana or long holidays in Costa Rica?

Friends of Ireland (or parties) will look forward to St. Patrick’s Day on 17 March. There are many pubs in Berlin where you can celebrate such as the Irish Pub at Europa-Center, the Oscar Wilde Pub in Friedrichstraße oder the Celtic Cottage in Steglitz.

Disney on Ice – Fantastic Adventures brings four Disney movies onto the ice: Frozen’s Elsa and Anna, Arielle, Cars’ Lightning McQueen and Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear take you on an adventure on ice skates. At Velodrom from 8 to 11 March.

Berlin’s traditional Spring Festival at Kurt-Schumacher-Damm starts on 28 March. Fun for young and old is guaranteed with a Ferris wheel, roller coasters, bumper car rides and co. It’s Family Day each Wednesday with special offers.


Lights will be switched off at 8.30 p.m. on 24 March during the Earth Hour. For one hour, Berlin sights such as Brandenburg Gate, Rotes Rathaus and Funkturm will turn off their lights to remind people of climate protection.
